NextGen Brings in the Light of Chanukah

On Sunday evening, 70 young professionals gathered together at Mission Brewery to bring in the spirit of Chanukah. The party began with an inspirational speech led by NextGen’s board member, Greg Hutto. In his speech, Greg emphasized coming together as a community in this time of darkness to celebrate the light in our lives.

“We come together tonight to be deeply considerate of the darkness we experience while celebrating the light,” he said. “In a time where philosophical disagreements have increasingly led people to destroy relationships and hurt others, we’re seeing tragedy after tragedy – in our world, nations, communities, and even in our homes.”

Following this, Jason Lobenstein, Community Engagement Director at Congregation Beth El, led the menorah lighting. The menorah was handcrafted from empty Stone Brewing bottles by our very own Carly Ezell Lobenstein.

The remainder of the evening was festive with an ugly sweater contest, a variety of beers, and fresh latkes and donuts made on site by Herb n’ Donut. This was a great way to start off the full week of young professional Chanukah celebrations!
