We care for Jews in need everywhere, strengthen Jewish identity and community, and connect San Diego to Israel

Welcome to Jewish Federation

The Jewish Federation touches more Jewish lives than any other organization on the planet. Being part of Federation means being part of a global network — part of a PEOPLE — that makes it possible to provide lifesaving humanitarian relief and sustain Jewish community for generations to come in San Diego and around the world. Our extensive network and expertise allow us to mobilize instantaneously in times of crisis in ways no other organization can. No matter where your passions lie or where you are on your own Jewish journey, YOU can make an impact through the Jewish Federation.

Hurricane Ian has reached the mainland as a high Category 4 hurricane with wind gusts exceeding 150 mph, an enormous storm surge expected to exceed 12 feet, more than 20 inches of rain with resulting flooding and related tornados that has already caused billions of dollars of damage to houses and businesses throughout Florida’s West Coast and beyond. Ian plunged large parts of the state into darkness and cut off water to millions of residents. Hundreds of thousands of residents were displaced or stranded. Jewish communities and others have significant needs in terms of shelter, recovery, aid and rebuilding.

Jewish Federations are uniquely positioned to help at times of need such as these.

You can help support the Jewish Federations’ relief and recovery efforts by contributing to the JFNA 2022 Hurricane Relief Fund.

Federation's CommUNITY Trip to Israel
May 4-11, 2023

A CommUNITY Trip to Israel enables you to engage with Israel through exclusive access to premier hotels, venues, and experiences. Along with fellow San Diego Jewish community members, you will meet with high-level government officials, journalists, academics, and experts in a variety of fields, while also connecting with everyday Israelis. Most of the trip experiences will be in groups of 30-40 people. We’ll also have special, meaningful moments when our entire group gathers, representing people involved in our local synagogues and Jewish agencies, as well as people who are looking for deeper connection.

5-star accomodations - Best of Israeli dining - VIP access - Sightseeing opportunities curated by you - and much more!

Our Work

  • Caring for Jews

Federation has had its pulse on the San Diego Jewish community’s needs for more than 80 years. So when Covid-19 hit, we knew immediately that we had to mobilize people and resources.

  • Building Community

For many, the most powerful igniter of Jewish pride and connection is joyful and meaningful shared experiences. Together with our partners, Federation connects thousands of Jews.

  • Connecting to Israel

San Diego native and Women’s Philanthropy Board Member, Britney Ewing, didn’t know what to expect when she agreed to host Amit Katz, a participant in Federation’s ShinShinim program.
