Community Connection Program Celebrates One Year

Did you know that Federation has a program to help people connect to the San Diego Jewish community? Under the umbrella of Shalom San Diego, Our Community Connectors are ready, willing, and excited to help connect individuals and families to new people, places, and things to do in Jewish San Diego. Community Connectors serve as an important resource for those looking to navigate our ever-changing Jewish landscape and searching for more meaningful Jewish experiences.

With the support of Shalom San Diego Program Manager, Brenda Silvers, Federation is excited to help our growing community explore all that Jewish San Diego has to offer. Years ago, and as a new mom living in Oceanside, Brenda felt isolated from the Jewish community and drove great distances to find meaningful connections. 27 years later, and largely shaped by that experience, the Community Connection program was born.

From Shabbat dinners to playgroups, our Community Connectors help address the needs of the community and create innovative paths to participate, engage and connect with Jewish San Diego. Our newest Community Connector, Ronnie Diamond, lives in University City and has been involved with fundraising for Federation and Jewish Family Services for over thirty years. Ronnie and his wife, Lorna, have two adult daughters and four grandchildren. Ronnie started the Jewish Family Service Balboa Avenue Older Adult Center over seventeen years ago and remains passionate about caring for older adults.
